Week 10 - Rio Tercero - May 18, 2015

Many have been called to build this temple, but we as missionaries and members have been called to fill this temple.

What a week.  Truly the highlight of my mission without a doubt.

This week I started out well by going to a conference in Cordoba and listening to our dear President and his wife.  He gave us about an hour for questions and answers and let me tell you.  That man is inspired of God.  As missionaries raised their hands and asked teh questions that they had, I realized that they were the same things that I was pondering.  President helped us understand and led us with love so that we will be able to jump the barriers of missionary work and have the success the Lord wants us to have.
My favortie question of all was "President, can we go to the cultural event?"  haha  he said no, only those in Cordoba capital.  However, at the end of the meeting, about an hour later, he stood up and said "Ive changed my mind... lets all go to the event!!!"  We were all soooo excited.  The entire mission was able to go.  We had to pay our own travel, so I used my birthday money to have my dreams come true :) Happy birthday to me.  Thanks fam!

At the cultural event, we were in the same room with President Uctchorf and Elder Christofferson.  What a neat experience.  I recorded a lot of the event, but wish I would have recorded more.  I was worried of running out of memory.  also, I think my camera is broken, it was dropped, and now my pictures have lines through the middle and I cant hear sound out of the camera... I will look better into that...

Pres U. urged us to write everything down in our journals after the eventful and unforgettable weekend.  So today for pday, I was writing down a novel.  I was really touched to be in such a sacred place with the Lords servants.  We were super tired from travelling so much in one week, but it was worth it.  I loved being able to see so many that I knew from my old areas, missionaries, and even some that I did not know! haha  When I arrived, so many missionaries told me that about 5 people were looking for me and that they were gringos.  I was so confused.  I later ran into The Hill family, and Kelli.  It was funny because each said, "You dont know me, but I know you and your family loves you so much!"  It was fun talking with them.  What a small world.  It was nice to feel so loved and popular... with snickers :)  Pres U talked about the Argentina flag and how it has the Sol de Mayo (sun of May) in the center.  He said that this temple with now be our new "sol de mayo".  Let it shine bright forever and to all people.  There could not have been a better day to choose such a significant event.

In the event, they told the story of how the immigrants came to argentina from europe, and a little abit about the Book of Mormon indians, and then proceeded to the current time of now with workers and families and temples.  It was very well done and I shed a lot of tears.  My favorite was when the little boys danced like gauchos (argentine cowboys) stomping their feet and avoiding a bottle.  Im not sure what it is called, but you will have to look it up.  A ton of youth participated, and each stake had a different cultural dance assigned.  So we watched them enjoy themselves while dancing Argentina culture.

At the end, a family sang the primary song "la familia es de dios" (the family is of god).  Then, the youth pulled out white sheets of cloth and they projected the cordoba temple picture on the ground of the arena.  The lights were out and the youth shined their flashlights.  It was like Hope of Argentina (Hope of America) all over again, but better.

At the dedication, we just watched it from here in Rio III.  Luckily we went to 2 of the 3 sessions, and I was so spiritually filled.  For the hosana Shout, Hna alliaud gave us white cloths with the temple and dedication date embroidred on it.  It is a super speacial recuerdo (memory/keepsake) that I hold dear to my heart.

Elder Christofferson gave a great talk and was emotional to see this become reality after serving here.  He said that Cordoba was a common topic between the quorum of the 12 and 1st presidency since so many have close ties to the mission.

Pres. Utchdorf also gave great messages.  He wants us to follow the Lord with all of your hearts, and by going to the temple, we are following him.  Also, he told us that whereever he goes, he has his current temple recommend and For the strength of youth in his coat pocket.  This is the best way to prepare ourselves, by following the standards and interview questions.

I was especially touched to hear a prophet of God address our Heavenly Father.  The dedicatory prayer was beautiful.  He spoke so respectfully, and lovingly, and the vocabulary he used was perfect.  He Thanked God for every Book in the Book of Mormon, and specifically named each one.  It caught my attention.  Are we truly grateful for such a gift in our lives today? Do we make it known each day?  Also, He prayed for the walls to stay strong from any natural disaster or weather, and the flowers and vegetation to be healthy warm and inviting at the Lords house. Also he blessed the Argentine nation.

At the end, we sang Hosanas Song mixed with The spirit of God, combining the traditions of the dedications of SLC and Kirtland and Cordoba.  What a blessing it was.  I have pages of notes to paste in my journal.  I can´t believe the time has come and the work with go forth boldly and nobly, and nothing can stop us now.

At the closing of the dedication sessions, Pres U tried to speak spanish and he said "Dios les ama, y les expreso mi amor" (God loves you and I express my love to you) He choked up and began to cry, closing in the Lord´s sacred name.  It was super touching and it brought tears to my eyes.  A prophet of the Lord promised so many blessings to this people here, and he did it with so much love care, concern and sincerity.

Hurrah for Isreal, and Argentina as well :)

LOTS OF LOVE,
Hermana Woolley
Im on cloud nine.

Our ward has a viaje ya (already has a trip) planned for this saturday to go and work in the temple.  Full speed ahead!

Beloved President,
I believe that this week all of us have changed with the dedication of the temple.  Thank you for allowing us to travel to the cultural event.  I was so happy, and obviously the spirit touched many hearts.  No one wanted to leave when the event ended.  It was the best  The Temple is in reality the sun of May and will always shine for everyone.

I loved the dedication too.  We went to the 3rd session and learned a lot.  I loved it when they spoke to us about repentence.   We are all stroing and worthy, and we need to repent every day.   What a priviledge.   Today I wrote in my journal the experiences and I was in awe of the love of God.  We can show our love for Him in our actions and worthiness.  If we focus on the temple – members and non members- we can show our love for God and for our neighbor.  Everything points to the temple and the temple points to the Lord.

We are very good her and we have plans to set many baptisimal dates this week.  Sister Solar is teaching me a lot and we are now tryin got have more faith in finding our true desires and make them reality.
Thanks for everything. I hope all is well for you.
Hermana Woolley

Amado Presidente,

Hermana Woolley

Week 9 - Rio Tercero - May 11, 2015

We had a great time talking to Katelyn yesterday.  She looks so happy, was full of laughs and giggles and the Spirit.  She is doing very well.   We are very content too after spending that hour with her.  In the call, she was able to meet her new nephew Peyton and her soon to be sister-in-law Ashling.   Because of the call and uploading a lot of pictures (which are on her blog http://sisterkatelynwoolley.blogspot.com/) her letter today is shorter than usual as you will see.   At the end of the call yesterday she told Raelynn she had something for her and started to sing “Mother I love you” (primary song) in Spanish.  It was very touching and she wasn’t able to get through too many words without breaking down a little.   So, she recorded it again and sent it to us today.  I have attached it if you want to hear it [without the breakdown(s)].

Here is her letter:

This week I am not sure if I am going to have lots of time to write, but I hope that you enjoyed our time together as much as I did.

I have been trying to work out the  pictures and sound recordings, but it is just complicated here in another country so now I have almost wasted my whole time for nothing.

What to say.... oh ya, if you want you can send me make up as well.  today I went and bought a serum thingy for my hair and vitamins (she is experiencing some hair loss).  But send some just in case.  I kind of dont care how I look anyways.  I would also like a new shirt or skirt or ANYTHING really.  I am done with the clothes that I have.  I understand April and her wanting of new clothes.

It was so good talking with you and I can not believe that we wont ever talk on skype again!!!!!! Too wierd.

Bueno, what to say.... um, today I made lunch for the two of us and now I can cook!!!!!!! thats the big news.  I make some beef steak with french fries and a lemon salad.  All from scratch.  Progress.  Hasta Luego PastaRoni and TopRamen when I return!! We also make empanadas y mate and biscuits so Im set.

I hope all is well with the wedding and that you enjoy your week with school coming to an end.
On sunday I will be in the dedication for the temple!!!!!!!!!  I have been dreaming for this day for so long that it is unreal that it has come.  The temple is finished and I love it.

I have only entered inside 3 times, but I cant wait to get back inside.  To research more names, and get the work done.  That is why we are here,

I am out of time and still all of the fotos of the pension that i workded so hard to clean wont update (we got most of them as you will see on her blog).

Well have a great week and talk to you sooN!!!!

Dear President!
This week, we have studied a lot in training about the Holy Ghost.  We can’t teach lessons, we need to teach people according to their needs.
One night, Sister Solar and I focused on following the Spirit to discern the needs of our new investigators.   It was a great experience and I testify that He will always guide us when we are sensitive to His whisperings.  We left 2 lesson with set dates to return and we knew that we need to teach this way.   For sure in this time of training we are going to grow a lot and become even better missionaries.
I love my companion and she is an big example in her knowledge of the scriptures and her ability to understand and explain the scriptures simply and easily.   We are learning together and growing from each other every day.
We are sad that we finally had an investigator accept the challenge to come to church, and just after our lesson he had an accident and went to the hospital.  He could not go to church the next morning.  Now, he must wait two weeks because he can’t attend the temple dedication.  It will be ok, everything in the Lord’s time.
We are excited for the conference tomorrow and we will see you there!
With Love,
Sister Woolley

Hola Presidente!

Week 8 - Rio Tercero - May 4, 2015

HOLA!!!!

Wow, what a week.  This week I was working at the temple Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, AND Friday.  You have no idea how tired we were at the end of the week.  My feet were throbbing and my throat was dry.  Also, my cheek muscles lost all ability.  On the last day as we were presenting the video, a guide came up to us and said "Hermanas please smile!!!" It was phisically not possible. We were sleep walking zombies,FULL OF THE SPIRIT! We made so many friends with the member volunteers, and it was like a thousand "family reunions" as many members from my old areas came to see inside the temple.

It was such an uplifting week, but also with some laughs and giggles.

So that video that we present right? Well one time me and my comp were mastering our job in front of 65 or more people with a microphone and all. Also, did I mention that the Alliaud family was present as well?  so ya. There we were.  I was explaining one part when suddenly an old lady sitting about 1 ft in front of me sneezed SO LOUDLY that it scared me causing me to jump, and my voice to change as I was talking.  I was so startled and embarrassed that I started to giggle, but got control of myself..... until I saw rows of people just staring at me trying to laugh every so quietly.  It was hilarious, and when I tried to speak again, my voice went so high pitch as I was gasping for air, that I finally just handed the mike over to my companion to finish the job. We quickly escaped and just laughing at what had happened.  I heard laughter inside the tent after leaving as well.  It was a moment when I was more red in the face than green!
But wait, it gets better. The next day, there we were once more inviting the spirit and introducing the video, when a little 10 yr old boy, captured my eye contact and purposefully said "ACHOO" 3x waiting for my response.  It was so funny as I realized what he was trying to do.  We got a good laugh. It made me think of Kristen singing the national anthem. haha

This week I had teh opportnity to translate a tour for an old man from SLC in the Open House. Brother Hansen. He literally has visited EVERY SINGLE TEMPLE IN THE WORLD!!! The Cordoba temple was his 144th temple to visit.  He only is missing NIgeria, but the church will not allow himto travel there.  It was amazing to be with him and to hear about his favorite temples and the reasons why.  bUt he also told us that each temple has the same spirit and natural unique beauty inside.  He said that cordobaisthe only temple to have a gold ring around the chandeleir. so hah. Takethat. haha

Another experience I had in the tour was seeing thousands of people waiting to enter the walls.  Also, being inside we were moving so slowly for the amount of people there. Friday wasa holiday so the temple was PACKED!  In the space of this open house 49,580 people entered!!!! and we recieved more than 1,100 references on contacting cards...anyways...As we were walking through the temple I got the impression that Christ and Heavenly Father must be so pleased to  have so many inside his house at last. However, he wants us to not only get to know the temple or walk through its halls.  He would be so much more pleased if each one made sacred covenants with himas well. It reallyimpacted me, and I truly felt as ifhe was walking through the temple with us and saying "Welcome to my house". We as missionaries represent him, entonces, many had the chance to have Christ close to them this week. what a blessing it was to be there for somany days.  I cant wait to go back!

(a littlebitfrom pres letter to us this week")
[Even though it was not the principal reason for this event, we have 1100 referrals, and we are already beginning to have baptisms from this group.   Along with these referrals, many have left their comments.  There are some that express the same as many: “Please visit me, the missionaries have never gone to my house”,  Pueyrredon, Cordoba.” Or “How can one become a member of this church” or “What is it that one must do to be able to always come to this place”]

Skype time: not sure... lets plan on 7:15 o 7:30 my time here in cordoba

Bueno, Ive got to head out.  Know I love you and look forward to Sunday! Also check out Dropbox for gifts and goodies :)  (These will be posted  on her blog in a few minutes - http://sisterkatelynwoolley.blogspot.com/)

Have a great week!

Hurrah for Isreal! Love you

Hermana Woolley

Hi President,
A week I will never forget.  A week of work in the temple.  I had many spiritual experiences and my testimony grew each time I explained that we are not a rare people but a people of covenants.   The gospel is so perfect and simple.   The temple touched many people, but it touched me too.   I was very sad when we left.  I love to see all of the members united in order, excitement, and with smiles in this celestial cause.   It was as if the Celestial Kingdom was on the earth.  When we left, we were really tired and excited for the work.
Here in Rio Tercero we have a lot of work and support from the members.  We had a lesson with a cute inactive family we are rescuing.  We have 10 chosen families to contact and work with.
Also from our gospel principals class, all attending (10 converts and less actives) went to the temple for the open house.  We spoke of the spirit and their experiences.   Some took their friends to see it too.
My companion is awesome.  We haven’t had much time to do her training studies but she has a very strong testimony and desire to work.  We have set goals to plan better and use every minute to our benefit.   We are focusin on obedience and “purification” from the world ja ja.  I really lover her and we are happy together.
Thank you for everything.  We are working hard this week and waiting miracles.
Good Luck,
Sister Woolley

Hola Presidente.

Suerte!

Hermana Woolley
